Polyisobutylene (PIB)

Polyisobutylene (PIB) is a synthetic polymer produced through the catalytic polymerization of high-purity C4 hydrocarbon feedstock with a high isobutylene content. The resulting product is a transparent, odorless, chemically stable, and non-toxic liquid polymer with exceptional physicochemical properties.

With a number-average molecular weight (Mn) ranging from 300 to 4000 g/mol, PIB is widely recognized for its excellent tackiness, oxidation resistance, and low permeability to moisture and gases. These outstanding characteristics have made it a preferred material for engineers and manufacturers worldwide across a broad range of applications, including adhesives, sealants, rubber compounds, stretch films, lubricants, greases, and metalworking fluids.

 PIB 90 is obtained by polymerization of an isobutene rich stream with specific catalysts. Product

is composed predominantly of aliphatic mono-olefins. The product is clear, bright and free from

sediments or suspended matter.

PIB 90 is a non-toxic polymer and has NSF certification. It can be used in lubricants and

synthetic oils formulation, including for food grade and pharmaceutical grade.

oils formulation, including for food grade and pharmaceutical grade.
